Sustainable Brand of the Week - NAGNATA

Updated: May 24, 2020

Australian athleisure brand NAGNATA combines street style with active chic founded by Australian fashion designer, stylist and creative director Laura May. May continues to push the boundaries in sustainably minded design and create pieces that feel and look amazing.

Organic Cotton Minimal Material Wastage

NAGNATA works exclusively with certified organic cotton to avoid unwanted nasties like pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers. The toxic chemicals cause illness and disease and can be extremely harmful to the factory workers who deal with them. NAGNATA’s collections are made as fully-fashioned knitwear pieces to eliminate yarn wastage from the production process. By avoiding common cut and sew methods, NAGNATA is able to avoid off-cuts and materials scraps that end up in landfill.

Reuse, Recycle and Upcycle

By designing premium, sustainable products NAGNATA encourages a culture of conscious consumerism. All promotional materials are printed on recycled paper with non-toxic dyes where possible. All packaging is reusable and comes in an aesthetic organic tote.

Fair Trade Artisan Projects

NAGNATA works with fair trade artisan initiatives as they strive to spread cultural awareness and give opportunities to those in need. Through recycling old-age textiles NAGNATA aims to give a new life to traditional materials and celebrate Indigenous tradition. NAGNATA supports the slow fashion movement and creates pieces that will outlive trends and generations.
